P1- Describe how the internet operates
The internet is a global network that connects billions of devices using a internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) this connects billions of computers, tablets and smartphones to the internet where you can browse websites, communicate with people from around the world, downloads pictures, movies and video and listen to music etc.
The internet is formed of a collection of computers and networks all linked together loosely, the connections used are fibre-optic cables, these send messages through pulses of light, satellite links & transmissions and wireless radio connections which send information by radio waves.
What the internet does is move computerised information from one place to the other, because of the general simplicity of the internet, all information is handled and passed on in the same ways means that it is easy for new applications to be made.
You are able to access information from the internet through your smartphone by using Wi-Fi, 4G and servers. The internet is built upon the World Wide Web servers and modems can keep different applications running, broadband and Wi-Fi can then allow the technology within computers and smartphones to connect to the internet so that anyone can browse information from all over the word if they have a stable connection. 4G connections allow people to connect at a much faster rate compared to some other internet connections. Bluetooth is a connection that allows smartphones to connect to each other to share information such as, images, songs documents, emails.
